MO/GO™ motors help you tackle elevation - getting you to the places where your knees would normally have to work their hardest. They feel as good on the stairs of the Eiffel Tower as on that epic mountain peak you’ve been dreaming of - the steeper and longer the climb or descent, the more they support you.

FAQs

Why the name?

MO/GO™ stands for Mountain Goat - one of the world’s best climbers that thrives in alpine environments, has a enviable spring in their step, and tends to gather in some of the hardest to reach places! We feel it perfectly embodies the spirit of adventure we hope to inspire with our product.

Will MO/GO™ walk “for me”?

The short answer is “no”. MO/GO™ is designed to provide you with a 40% boost by supplementing the quadricep & hamstring muscles in your legs and offloading your knee joints. So it helps you with every step, but you’re still the one in control and doing the walking. Think of it like an electric bicycle - it makes pedalling a lot easier but you still have to turn the pedals yourself (it’s not a motorcycle). This is part of what makes MO/GO™ feel so natural - it understands and amplifies your walking.

Is MO/GO™ right for me?

MO/GO™ motors give you more power in your leg muscles (quadriceps and hamstrings) and offload the work your knee joints normally do when walking, so it’s most helpful for people who feel they can use some extra support in those areas of their body! It was designed to help people who are finding their level of physical activity limited due to knee pain, muscle weakness in your legs, or cardiovascular fatigue. If you get out of breath going up hills or stairs or feel pain on the way down, we think you will really enjoy moving with MO/GO™.

That said, please note that MO/GO™ is not a medical device so we are not making any medical claims at this time. We are partnering with several leading clinics to develop a related product specifically designed to help people living with neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease. It won’t be commercially available for a while, but if you live in Northern California and would be interested in testing our medical prototypes, reach out to us at medical@skipwithjoy.com.

And if you’re still not sure if MO/GO™ is right for you, consider renting one for a day - we’d love for you to try it for yourself and tell us how it feels!

Can I use it in the snow?

You can. The MO/GO™ starter pack currently available for preorder comes with our lighter-weight breathable summer pant, but we will be offering a range of other garment options to add onto your purchase. Stay tuned for more garment model and color options in the coming months, including ski pants!

Is this model of the MO/GO™ exactly the device I’ll be receiving as part of my pre-order?

Close but not exactly. What you currently see on our website as part of the pre-order process is our latest MO/GO™ devices that we’re rigorously testing with users around the country to help us understand how we can make the product even better for you - more useful, comfortable, and reliable. Once you pre-order your MO/GO™ you’ll receive regular (monthly-ish) updates from us keeping you up to date on the latest hardware and software design changes we’re working on leading up to your product ship date in 2025. If you decide to sign-up for our beta tester program after you pre-order, you will have the opportunity to play a more active role in testing interim product versions and provide us with feedback.

How does sizing work?

We are committed to fitting as many people as possible, so MO/GO™ currently comes in a range of 10 sizes. We will ask you some quick sizing questions when you place your preorder (height, weight, usual preferred pant size) to help us plan for your order. Then before we ship your product, we will follow up individually with some additional sizing questions to ensure that your MO/GO™ fits as best as possible.

There will also be an opportunity to have one of our experts help you with sizing and fit at our retail & rental locations.

Finally, while your MO/GO™ will come in a specific size, it is designed to be highly adjustable to give you full control over how it fits you on any given day.

How far can I walk on a single charge?

Our standard rechargeable battery pack is designed to last for 3 hours of intense uphill walking at maximum assistance on a single charge - which is about 6 miles for most people. The smaller the incline and the lower the amount of assist you select, the longer the battery will last. And of course it recharges when you walk downhill, extending the range further. Your pre-order comes with 2 batteries to start and you’ll have the option to add extra batteries to your order before we ship your MO/GO™ to you.

Can I just wear a single MO/GO powered module (on one leg only)?

Currently MO/GO is designed and configured to be worn on both legs. You wouldn't want to ever wear both powered modules but only use (get assistance) on one since you'd just be carrying around the extra weight on the second side without getting any benefit there. However, down the road we do intend to enable a mode where you only connect a single powered module (on just one leg) - we just haven't optimized that experience yet.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We are taking preorders globally and are covering shipping costs for a limited time for early-bird preorders.
